Western Washington Memorial Day Weekend Events 2014
Memorial Day Weekend is right around the corner and while we haven’t had much rain the last few weeks, rain is in the forecast for the upcoming three day weekend. Nevertheless, there are several events coming up that will go on rain or shine.
- Port Townsend Artisan Food Festival – May 24-25
Take a day trip by car or by ferry out to Port Townsend for “classes, chefs demos, tastings, tours, author talks, dinner, and even an Artisan cocktail tasting”, according to their website. Visit one of the largest small town farmer’s markets in the nation, take some cooking classes, and enjoy the scenery!
- Northwest Folklife Festival – May 23-26
Another option for this weekend is to join the masses and spend a weekend at the 43rd Annual Folklife Festival at Seattle Center. This free event will have you listening to a number of different musical sets and will also have artists and food vendors to try out as well. Folklife is the nation’s largest free community arts festival and a great way to hear new music!
- Seattle International Film Festival– May 15-June 8
If you would prefer to stay out of the rain this weekend, The Seattle International Film Festival (SIFF) is still going on! This is the 40th year of this festival and their mission is to “bring people together to discover extraordinary films from around the world”. This is a great chance to see a variety of films that don’t always make it to your local movie theater. Their website has a list of showings by day and tickets can be purchased online!
If you’re not into the arts as much, the Mariners are in town this weekend playing against the Astros. Games are at 7:10pm on Friday and Saturday or at 1:10pm on Sunday or Monday!
